FOLUR GLOBAL

FOLUR envisions a world where producing food creates sustainable environmental benefits and flourishing landscapes

The Food Systems, Land Use and Restoration (FOLUR) Impact Program is a $345 million initiative supported by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) that seeks to transform the global food system by promoting sustainable, integrated landscapes and efficient commodity value chains. The Impact Program consists of a global platform and 27 country projects targeting the production landscapes of eight commodities: cocoa, corn, coffee, livestock, palm oil, rice, soy, and wheat.

FOLUR ETHIOPIA

Protect nature and sustain food systems

The project aims to support transformation towards deforestation-free coffee value chains and food systems in Oromia, Sidama, South Ethiopia, and Southwest Ethiopia. This will be achieved through an application of the Integrated Landscape Management (ILM) approach in coffee and agricultural production landscapes in the four regions of Oromia, Sidama, South Ethiopia, and Southwest Ethiopia. An inclusive value chain approach for the coffee sector will be promoted to facilitate a transition towards deforestation-free coffee jurisdictions, and farmers will be supported to adopt and implement good agricultural practices that increase productivity but also support healthy ecosystems, including soils and forests, in production landscapes.
